1st International Conference on Sublobar resections for lung cancer, Montsouris Institute, Paris, France
At a time when lung screening programs are being progressively set up, the management of ground glass opacities and early stage tumors is becoming a major issue for thoracic oncologists and surgeons. This explains the recent interest in sublobar resections, the rate of which has dramatically increased in high-volume centers all over the world. As this evolution is arising at a time when thoracoscopic and robotic techniques are also spreading and developing, most surgeons agree that pulmonary segmentectomies should be performed - whenever possible - without opening the chest. However, performing a thoracoscopic anatomical segmentectomy comes with specific technical difficulties and is highly challenging.
It is this challenge that inspired us and led us to organize the 1st international conference focusing on all different aspects of sublobar resections for lung cancer, from indications to preoperative planning and advanced surgical techniques, also paying attention to upcoming technologies.
