DEAR_USER
A friendly welcome to our April 2017 Newsletter.
Our April issue is entirely dedicated to endoscopic thyroid surgery, shedding light on a novel pioneering technique, PerOral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy (POET), based on the principles of natural orifice transluminal surgery (NOTES) as it allows for a truly scar-free surgery with minimal dissection. This technique was originally demonstrated by Dr. Angkoon Anuwong, MD (Bangkok, Thailand).
To capture your interest in general laparoscopic surgery, this month also features a brand-new state-of-the-art presentation on treatment modalities for choledocholithiasis.
The objective of this state-of-the-art is to identify different clinical presentations of common bile duct stones (CBDS), to illustrate the different treatment modalities and provide indications to fine-tune the best therapeutic strategy depending on available means and resources.
We would like to remind you that the WeBSurg Hall of Fame is more current than ever. It has been running on an ongoing basis for several months and it is still on.
The objective is to highlight the best HD video contributor who has covered original comprehensive and academic educational topics in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
Our May issue will feature laparoscopic pancreatic surgery.
Stay tuned!
Thank you once again for your concern and interest in our expanding WeBSurg community.
Your feedback is always appreciated.
Please contact us here.

Yours faithfully,
Prof. Jacques Marescaux, MD, FACS, Hon FRCS, Hon JSES, Hon FASA President of IRCAD WeBSurg Editor-in-Chief
