WeBSurg and EATS Newsletter March 2009

This month, we are pleased to release 4 brand-new HD videos that you will be able to download for 9.95€ or 14.95$ only per video! We are also publishing 12 new videos showing different surgical procedures, along with 3 lectures on the basics of laparoscopic general surgery (conventional instrumentation and micro-instrumentation, electrosurgery, port placement and ways of access)!

We are also happy to present a new critical analysis; this month, it is the video "Minimally invasive video-assisted parathyroidectomy for primary hyperparathyroidism" by M. Vix and J. Marescaux, reviewed by P. Miccoli (IT).

In NOTES, we have new media recorded live at the IRCAD-EITS for our EATS members. The media was shot during the last advanced course in NOTES (January 16-17, 2009) and is available on the EATS website:http://www.eats.fr.
For more information on NOTES, please click on the EATS section of the Newsletter.

4 new HD videos available for download

Thanks to the new HD links between Strasbourg's New University Hospital and the IRCAD-EITS Training Centre, we are able to offer our WeBSurg members a selection of High Definition videos for download.

Due to the high costs of running such a HD service, the downloads are available for a small fee of 9.95€ or 14.95$ only for each video.

New Editorial on "Education and e-training in NOTES" available to our members

Dear EATS members,

This month and exclusively on the EATS website, we are pleased to share with you an editorial on education and e-training in NOTES, authored by Bernard DALLEMAGNE, Silvana PERRETTA and Jacques MARESCAUX.

"Great surgeon equals great (i.e. large) incisions"... Old surgical principles such as this one have sometimes stood in the way of major advancements, sparking debates and controversies. Following two years of NOTES, how is the technique evolving, and should training be offered at a time when NOTES is still rarely applied to the clinical setting?
