NOTES: another step forward!
|
The field of Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) also known as "no-scar surgery", is quickly becoming what is already felt as the third surgical revolution after laparoscopy. Since our editorial of July 2006, an association for transluminal surgery called EATS (European Association for Translumenal Surgery) was created to guide, promote and inform about this field in Europe and the very first course dedicated to training in this new surgical domain is taking place at the IRCAD-EITS in May 2007.

EATS (European Association for Translumenal SurgeryTM) sees the light of day!
Objectives:
The association is fully committed:
- to create a group of multidisciplinary European health care professionals (GI endoscopists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, roboticists) that will evaluate the potential of translumenal surgery.
- to share ideas and technological innovations aiming at a quick progression of the concept.
- to establish the basic requirements of the project and the scientific procedures that should be implemented prior to any clinical application.
- to establish and maintain a European registry of experimental data to help in getting technical and financial support from sponsoring companies.
- to establish contacts with other scientific societies sharing the same objectives.

La chirurgie transgastrique, synonyme de "chirurgie sans-cicatrices" est en passe de marquer une véritable troisième révolution dans la pratique de la chirurgie après la laparoscopie. Depuis notre éditorial de juillet 2006, une association, l'EATS (European Association for Translumenal Surgery), a été créée pour guider et promouvoir la chirurgie transgastrique en Europe. Rappelons que la première formation dédiée à la pratique dans ce nouveau domaine chirurgical se déroulera à l'IRCAD-EITS en mai 2007.

EATS (European Association for Translumenal SurgeryTM) : une nouvelle association voit le jour !
Objectifs :
L'association s'engage à :
- créer un groupe multidisciplinaire de professionnels de santé (endoscopistes digestifs, gastroentérologues, chirurgiens, roboticiens) à l'échelle européenne dont la mission sera d'évaluer le potentiel de la chirurgie transgastrique.
- partager les concepts et les innovations technologiques pour diffuser rapidement les principes clés de cette nouvelle spécialité.
- définir les pré-requis du projet et dresser scientifiquement la liste des interventions qui devront faire l'objet d'études avant toute application clinique.
- établir et maintenir un registre européen des données expérimentales.
- établir des passerelles avec d'autres sociétés savantes partageant les mêmes objectifs.
