Operating Techniques


Digestive surgery,

- Stomach Video-assisted modified partial gastrectomies - D Mutter.
Improvement in imaging modalities and recent advances in gastroscopy have increased the detection of benign gastric tumors. With the right indications, a partial or modified gastric resection may be performed. Minimally-invasive surgery combined with the use of a linear stapling device have simplified the treatment of benign gastric tumors.
 

Endocrine surgery,

- Adrenal Laparoscopic Adrenalectomies (Left and Right) - J Marescaux, D Mutter.
The first laparoscopic gastrectomy, performed in 1992, was the Billroth II gastrectomy for chronic gastric ulcers. Billroth I gastrectomy and total gastrectomy for cancer have since been described. The laparoscopic approach has significant advantages in terms of postoperative comfort, but it entails higher costs and longer operative times as compared to the open approach.
 

Endocrinologie,Surrénales

- Surrénalectomies Laparoscopique (Gauche et Droite) - J Marescaux, D Mutter
In 1992, Gagner et al. performed the first laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Since then, this approach has become the gold standard as it offers numerous advantages. A left adrenalectomy is more difficult to perform than a right adrenalectomy; we have defined a precise operative strategy which completely isolates the adrenal gland without the need for clear identification beforehand.
