DEAR_USER

A friendly welcome to our October 2017 Newsletter.

Discover our OCTOBER SPECIAL "HOW TO" dedicated to LAPAROSCOPIC COLORECTAL SURGERY.

As a sequel to last June's HOW TO section dedicated to splenic flexure mobilization, our HOW TO aims to provide a precise technical description of the management of sigmoid and rectal cancer performed by Dr. A. Melani, MD, a prominent expert in the field of minimally invasive colorectal surgery, and Scientific Director of IRCAD America Latina training centers in Barretos and Rio de Janeiro.

In addition, we bring you a didactic and comprehensive critical analysis on laparoscopic sigmoidectomy for cancer, authored by Dr. P Sylla, MD (Mount Sinai Medical Health, NY, United States).

Our October issue will also highlight miscellaneous procedures in diverse surgical specialties including foregut, bariatric, and pediatric surgery, originating from WeBSurg contributors worldwide.

We hope that we are allowing you to make the best of your learning experience on WeBSurg.

Stay tuned for our 6th live webinar in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery which will be broadcasted on November 3, 2017.

Your feedback is always appreciated.

1st International Conference on Sublobar resections for lung cancer, Montsouris Institute, Paris, France

The penetration of sublobar resections within the thoracic surgeons community is increasing. But most agree the optimal benefit of parenchyma sparing surgery is obtained when procedure are carried out via thoracoscopy, whatever the technique (multiple ports, single ports, robotics.)... We also agree that the closed chest approach poses unique problems to surgeons. One of the reasons is the difficulty in understanding anatomical landmarks and comprehending the intersegmental plane. This is why all technologies contributing to an optimal preparation of the procedure are of major interest for surgeons, e.g. endobronchial navigation, mapping, 3D modelisation, rapid prototyping and 3D printing...

This video describes one of the several sublobar resection that will be discussed in detail at the first international conference on sublobar resections for lung cancer, January 11-12th.
