DEAR_USER

A friendly welcome to our June 2017 Newsletter.

Discover our June special HOW TO section on Laparoscopic Splenic Flexure Mobilization.

Our How To section aims to provide precise technical descriptions of surgical procedures performed by different authoritative operators with selected videos and lectures.

Laparoscopic splenic flexure mobilization still remains one of the burning technical issues of colorectal surgery. To properly address this topic, we bring you excellent technical demonstrations and recorded live sessions by a world-renowned Faculty including Dr. A Melani (Brazil), Dr. F Corcione (Italy), Dr. C Huscher (Italy) as well as some of the possible alternatives authored by Dr. G Dapri (Belgium), and finally, complementary contributions in order to further explore this topic.

Relive the highlights of our last IRCAD webinar in minimally invasive colorectal surgery focusing on the best approaches for a TME.

As a bonus, check out our medley of contributions in gynecologic, arthroscopic, and general surgery.

Our July issue will feature laparoscopic pediatric surgery. Stick around!

The WeBSurg Hall of Fame has been running on for almost a year, and in July, we will disclose the name of the best HD video contributor who has covered original comprehensive and academic educational topics in the field of minimally invasive surgery.

Many thanks for your support and devotion. We hope that we can continue making your learning experience on WeBSurg satisfying and enjoyable.

Your feedback is always appreciated.

1st International Conference on Sublobar resections for lung cancer, Montsouris Institute, Paris, France
At a time when lung screening programs are being progressively set up, the management of ground glass opacities and early stage tumors is becoming a major issue for thoracic oncologists and surgeons. This explains the recent interest in sublobar resections, the rate of which has dramatically increased in high-volume centers all over the world. As this evolution is arising at a time when thoracoscopic and robotic techniques are also spreading and developing, most surgeons agree that pulmonary segmentectomies should be performed - whenever possible - without opening the chest. However, performing a thoracoscopic anatomical segmentectomy comes with specific technical difficulties and is highly challenging.

It is this challenge that inspired us and led us to organize the 1st international conference focusing on all different aspects of sublobar resections for lung cancer, from indications to preoperative planning and advanced surgical techniques, also paying attention to upcoming technologies.
